The traditional recipe of Limoncello of Sorrento preserves the flavor of the homemade recipes: selecting only oval lemons of Sorrento coast, after peeling them off – the peel is left to steep in alcohol for a period of not less than 10 days . Finally they add sugar and water and warm it up to the boiling temperature. This obtained liquor will rest for two more weeks, before being chilled and used as an aperitif or enjoyed after lunch.
