HISTORY AND TRADITION

Honey is the oldest natural sweetener : in fact , beekeeping was well known already at the time of the Egyptian pharaons.
Regularly used by the Romans , Greeks , in India and Arabia , honey has always been characterized by a variety of uses: in cosmetics, medicine , as an alcoholic beverage , using the fermentation of a mixture of water and honey. It is an entirely natural product that , starting from the pollen of many different inflorescences , through the laborious work of bees , becomes a highly energetic food with soft flavors : acacia , chestnut, citrus , cherry, eucalyptus. The energetic value of the honey makes it a diet bacics and it is good for all ages and as its chemical composition based on glucose and fructose facilitates the digestibility . It is also reminiscent of its healing abilities , with beneficial action to the respiratory system , the ability to calm the cough and act as a tonic and anti-anemic .

ORANGE HONEY OF SORRENTO PENINSULA

Intense yellow – orange color, thick peel, cloves without seeds. But, above all, the juice: rich and sweet. Here are the unmistakable characteristics of the Sorrento oranges, that since the beginning of flowering, give life to a special product.

LEMON HONEY OF SORRENTO PENINSULA

Elliptical, with pale yellow pulp, particularly tasty, juice rich in vitamin C and minerals, fragrant for the presence of essential oils peel. These are the lemons of Sorrento IGP, which flowers we use to create our special honey.

CHESTNUT HONEY OF SORRENTO PENINSULA

The Chestnut has ancient origins and, for a long time its properties have been appreciated starting with the fruits to the wood.
In the Sorrento Peninsula there is a wide distribution of the chestnut, given the fertility of the soil, rich in precious minerals due to the nearby Vesuvius and the Phlegraean volcanic systems. That’s why Mealitaly created this chestnut honey to offer a unique gartronomic experience.

WILDFLOWER HONEY OF SORRENTO PENINSULA

The Wildflower, as the name suggests, is a particular type of honey from the nectar of various flowers. Its characteristics therefore vary according to the prevalence of a particular type of nectar.
Along the Sorrento Coast there are many Wildflower Mealitaly honey farms that always carefully research the best products produced on this land.

HONEYDEW HONEY OF SORRENTO PENINSULA

The honeydew honey is a food characterized by a very special flavor and many beneficial properties useful for our body. Compared to traditional types of honey, which are produced by bees using flowers, this honey is made using a sweet substance produced by some insects that is called honeydew.
It is very rich in minerals, potassium, phosphorus, iron, and has a lower amount of sugars.

WALNUTS IN HONEY OF SORRENTO PENINSULA

The walnut tree has ancient roots: the excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum testify its presence since Ist century AD.
It is present in different parts of the region, thanks to the particular climate and the fertility of local soil, nuts grown on the Sorrento Peninsula are the most valuable.
